What got you started in R/C racing? I had toy R/C cars and saw a Tamiya Sand Scorcher in my local shop and thought it was the coolest thing I ever saw. What is your favorite r/c track? I enjoyed Yatabe Arena in Japan in 91, the track had banked corners everywhere and you drive like a madman! What are your career goals ? To enjoy my racing and continue to have fun. Favorite food? Indian What is the best memory in your r/c racing career? Finishing 3rd at the 1/8th gas Worlds. Favorite movie of all time? The great escape. What intrigues you most about R/C Gas Car Racing? Its just fun, even when I do bad at an off road gas race I have fun. When I raced on road I did not enjoy it even if I was fast at the race. Favorite type of music? Girls aloud (A UK girl band), their video’s are pleasing to the eye ! Who do you admire most in the r/c industry and why? Tatsuro Watanabe, he is quiet and does not shout at anyone, but when he talks everyone listens. When I worked at HPI Europe I respected him very much. Favorite Full Size Car?Ferrari F40, Porsche 997 GT3 What are your R/C Racing goals? To continue to have fun and enjoy my racing, if I can win sometimes that’s cool too, but not at the expense of having fun and enjoying my days away from the office. What are your goals outside of the r/c industry? To live a happy and healthy life – and to own one of my favorite cars above !. Who is your idol? Colin McRae (ex world rally champion) I watched the World rally in the UK many times and his driving is plain silly, from the second he starts a special stage “take it easy” never ever crossed his mind. Stood in Kielder forest in the North of England in total darkness on a night stage and watching him slide his rally car through the trees in excess of 100mph on gravel was mind blowing. His driving is beyond brave ! If you had all the money in the world, what would your hobby be? R/c car racing with a team of top class mechanics, more mountain biking and drive my dream cars Ferrari F40/ Porsche GT3 on race tracks for fun. If you could change one thing in r/c racing, what would it be and why? All races should have control tyres ,every other section of R/C has been spoiled by tyres, control tyres need to in place before a section starts to die, and I hope 1/8th gas off road will learn from other sections mistakes. When I travel 80% of the room in my car is taken by tyres, and if you spend $3000 going to a worlds and you cant get the right tyres it is really annoying, its just not fair. 1/10th off road have control tyres now and you can travel to the other side of the world safe in the knowledge that you have an equal chance against anyone. Proline do a once a year race in the UK and this year its crimefighter tyres. You know in advance how many you need and can budget accordingly. How much do you charge for your autograph? If you’re a member of pop group girls aloud it’s a kiss ! Anyone else can have it for free.
