Vital Stats Name; Jay Halsey What got you started in R/C racing? " I was 12 years old and visited my local hobby shop when I saw a 1/12th scale electric car. I worked my butt off to save enough money and finally buy one. For the first week I had my car, the steering servo was backwards, and with no servo reversing switches back then, I learned how to drive it that way." What is your favorite r/c track? "Back in the day it was Freedom Hill in Detroit, MI. Currently I'm undecided, but Lance Norick's track looks great from the pictures I've seen. " What are your career goals? "Own and race trophy trucks in the desert. " Favorite food? "Mexican" What is the best memory in your r/c racing career? "Winning the first IFMAR Off-Road World Championships " Favorite movie of all time? "No Way Out " What intrigues you most about R/C Gas Car Racing? "All the different aspects of the racing itself. Car set-up, endurance, horsepower, strategy, car design, and the challenges of the tracks. " Favorite type of music? "Rock & Roll." Who do you admire most in the r/c industry and why? "Would have to be Gene Hustings and Roger Curtis the owners of Associated Electrics. Without them, I wouldn't be where I am today. They are some of the most honest and best people in the industry." Favorite Full Size Car? "My Subaru/turbo off-road buggy. " What are your R/C Racing goals? "To be competitive every week and win the Worlds 20 + years apart." What are your goals outside of the r/c industry? "All my goals are within the industry. I have a lot more I want to accomplish." Who is your idol? "Jim Halsey, my Dad." If you had all the money in the world, what would your hobby be? "Racing full size off-road cars. " If you could change one thing in r/c racing, what would it be and why? "Better promotion - main stream " How much do you charge for your autograph? " The only thing I autograph is high dollar driver contracts"
